Description
SELMER MARK VI
- baritone saxophone -
Year of Manufacture: 1961
We are pleased to offer an exceptional 1961 Selmer Mark VI Baritone Saxophone, one of the most highly regarded models in the history of wind instruments. This particular instrument was manufactured in August 1961 and was originally destined for the American market, where it was engraved, lacquered, and given its final setup at Selmer's facilities in Elkhart.
This is the sought-after Low Bb version, appreciated by musicians for its lighter weight, free-blowing response, and distinctive rich vintage sound. Many saxophonists consider Low Bb Mark VI baritones to be among the finest-sounding baritone saxophones ever produced.
The instrument features its original neck with the matching serial number, an important detail for collectors and vintage Selmer enthusiasts.
The sound is exactly what one would expect from a classic Mark VI – warm, full-bodied, highly resonant, and rich in overtones. It is an instrument that excels in jazz as well as any musical setting where a true vintage baritone saxophone sound is desired.
The saxophone underwent a complete overhaul some years ago and has recently been checked and adjusted in our workshop. It is fully functional and ready to play.
A truly special instrument for the discerning musician or collector seeking the authentic sound and character of a legendary Selmer Mark VI.
